At the start of 2013 Richard Ourso began the process of launching Ourso Designs’ sister company, The Olde Mill. Richard had years of experience designing with solid wood beams but recognized the hassle of obtaining consistent and specific solid beams and increasing cost of labor and equipment to install solid structural beams in the framing process of construction. After 20 years of dedicated research, Richard created an outstanding alternative to solid wood beams, an Eco-friendly Architectural Hollow Box Beam made from carefully selected, reclaimed antique Longleaf Pine. Each one of The Olde Mill’s Beams, Mantels, Floating Shelves, Door Headers, Pilasters, Posts and custom wood products are created from the lifelong passion Richard has for high quality, multi-purposed custom wood products,.
Each step of the process and each piece handcrafted in-house at The Olde Mill is done so with Richard’s direct supervision and inspection. As Founder/Owner of The Olde Mill, Richard to provides construction industry professionals, colleagues and home owners with expert advise on building, designing and remodeling options and how a stronger, better built re-engineered “green” beam which is lighter in weight, in its natural finish, is superior to solid beams. The Olde Mill LEED certified products are a viable and aesthetically pleasing addition to the home and commercial space environment while fulfilling desire for style and function.
